My Antarctic Adventure

A work opportunity with Quark Expeditions allowed me to travel the Antarctic regions and experience the wildlife and geography of this unique continent. It can be overwhelming to experience the wonder and magic of such a place — a sensory overload!

What struck me most was the display of colour. This white continent is transformed by every sunrise, sunset, fog, snow and hail, into a display of unforgettable colour and mood. That, combined with the vastness of the landscape, the unpredictability of weather and ice, the sparkling iceberg sculptures, and the abundance of wildlife, make it an awe-inspiring place to see.

I feel immense gratitude that I have experienced a part of this polar frontier.

When I took part in an overnight camping trip on Pléneau Island, it became very clear to me how important it is to preserve these wild places.

Little Miss P.

I really enjoyed painting the portrait of this little girl at age 6 months. It amazes me how quickly babies change their features at that age. Little Miss P. looks so different now, at age 1. She transformed from infant to toddler in such a short time.

My personal preference for framing watercolour paintings:

  1. have it framed behind glass to protect the artwork.
  2. use a double mat, rather than a single one. It provides another colour to complement the artwork.
  3. the mat also creates a space between the art and the glass and prevents damage from condensation.
  4. a double mat makes the artwork look larger and gives it a custom look.

Sundae with her Portrait

It's always nice to see the pets with my portraits. Sundae sure does a great job posing with her picture. The painting was presented as a gift to the grandhumans and they loved it.

The Loss of a Pet

This wonderful dog crossed the rainbow bridge earlier this year. Coping with the loss of a pet is very difficult. Our beloved companions are part of the family and will be dearly missed when they pass away. A unique, custom painted portrait is a special way to preserve your treasured memories.

Beautiful Cornish Rex Girl

Just finished a painting of Kirppu. Her name means 'flea' in Finnish. What fascinated me the most are her large ears and those green eyes. For an artist, it's a real pleasure painting such a pet. I will paint her again in the near future. She is too interesting looking to just paint once!

Molly's Eye

Dearest Molly passed away last year. Her eye shows a reflection of a northern Ontario landscape. A seated figure is looking at a distant farmhouse. Rest in peace, sweet Molly!
